For: Southern Ontario-based SMEs looking to commercialize genomics and bioengineering
Supported by the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario and Ontario Genomics, BioCreate offers funding and resources to advance genomics and bioengineering technologies in Ontario. Small and medium sized enterprises based in southern Ontario working on projects with applications in health, food and agriculture, cleantech, or platform technology can receive up to $150,000.
BioCreate’s Spring 2023 Cohort 2 is accepting EOIs until June 30, with full applications due by July 30, 2023.
For: Collaborators looking to advance Canada’s plant-based value chain
Protein Industries Canada, one of Canada’s Global Innovation Clusters, has launched a call for project proposals which advance Canada’s plant-based value chain, with an emphasis on genetics, crops, ingredient, and products. Collaborative projects with at least three partners may be eligible to receive up to 45% of costs for projects that aim to improve processing efficiency, develop technologies, optimize plant-based ingredients, and create goods in the plant-based value chain.
Protein Industries Canada will accept EOIS for the latest call for proposals until June 26, 2023.
For: Organizations looking to develop low-carbon solutions for Nova Scotian communities
The Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources and Renewables’ Low Carbon Communities aims to invest in community projects in Nova Scotia which support low carbon solutions in buildings, electricity, and transportation. Organizations with projects benefitting Nova Scotian municipalities can receive up to 75% of project costs covered.
EOIs to Low Carbon Communities are due by June 22, 2023, and full applications are due on June 29, 2023.
For: Canadian agricultural businesses looking to adopt clean technologies
The Adoption Stream of the Agricultural Clean Technology Program supports the adoption of clean technology to promote sustainable growth in Canada’s agriculture and agri-food sector. Eligible for-profit businesses can receive funding for the purchase and installation of commercially available clean technology or equipment upgrades that will reduce GHG, fertilizer, and methane emissions.
Applications to the Adoption Stream of the Agricultural Clean Technology Program will be accepted until June 22, 2023, or until funding has been fully committed.
For: Canadian SMEs looking to develop a bioreactor for 3D bioprinted vessels
Innovative Solutions Canada offers funding to innovators capable of solving specific challenges, with the aim of supporting technologies to market. The Canada Border Services Agency is currently seeking an asepticbioreactor chamber that provides a controlled environment to grow 3D bioprinted hollow tube structures.SMEs can receive up to $150,000 to develop a proof of concept, with the potential to receive further funding for prototyping upon successful project completion.

For: Canadian SMEs looking to develop novel quantum sensing protocols
Innovative Solutions Canada offers funding to innovators capable of solving specific challenges, with the aim of supporting technologies to market. The Canada Border Services Agency is currently seeking solution to demonstrate new quantum sensing protocols relying on a single bosonic mode.SMEs can receive up to $150,000 to develop a proof of concept, with the potential to receive further funding for prototyping upon successful project completion.

For: Collaborators looking to innovate in battery and fuel-cell electric vehicles
Next Generation Manufacturing Canada (NGen), Canada’s Global Innovation Cluster for Advanced Manufacturing, has launched a $35-million call for project proposals which focus innovative R&D projects across the value chain of road-based battery and fuel-cell electric vehicles. Collaborators working on a project in developing an advanced manufacturing technology or process in the EV value chain can receive
EOIs to Electric Vehicle Manufacturing Value Chain Program are due by October 11, 2023.
For: Canadian companies looking to improve energy efficiency in their facilities
Natural Resources Canada provides financial assistance to support the implementation of energy efficiency and energy management solutions designed to reduce GHG emissions and maximize energy performance through the Industrial Facility track of the Green Industrial Facilities and Manufacturing Program. Applicants can receive up to $10 million per project proposal for a single facility or multiple facilities.
Applications to Track 2 – Industrial Facility of the Green Industrial Facilities and Manufacturing Program is due by July 31, 2023.
For: Canadian primary producers or processors looking to expand their business
The National Research Council of Canada (NRC) is investing $6 million into supporting primary producers, processors, and industry organizations to grow their businesses through marketing analysis, planning, and product development. Up to 50% of business expansion-related costs may be covered through the program.
Applications to the Grow Ontario Market Initiative will be accepted until all funds are allocated.
For: Canadian companies looking to decarbonize the transportation sector
The Energy Innovation Program’s latest call for proposals is funding R&D and demonstration projects which are decarbonizing the transportation sector, focused on low- and zero-emission vehicles as well as transportation efficiency. Successful applicants may receive up to $5 million to support demonstration projects.
EOIs to Energy Innovation Program – On-Road Transportation Decarbonization are due by July 20, 2023.
