NOTE: All funding for the Graduate Enterprise Internship (GEI) program is currently committed.
FedDev’s Graduate Enterprise Internship (GEI) program is aimed to connect science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) graduates with small and medium-sized companies in Southern Ontario by offering grants for companies hiring interns. Applications must be submitted by September 30, 2013.
Eligible recipients receive contributions towards an intern’s salary of up to $15,000 per six-month internship for a graduate student or recent graduate of a master’s or doctoral-level STEM program and up to $10,000 for a recent graduate of an undergraduate STEM program or a college program at the advanced diploma level. The host SMEs must contribute a minimum of 50% of the intern’s salary and benefits. Interns will typically participate in only one internship through the initiative.
Eligible expenditures cover intern salary and benefits during a six-month internship.
Companies eligible for this initiative as commercial enterprises will have less than 1,000 employees, operating in STEM fields and located in defined geographic areas of southern Ontario. For the purposes of this initiative, eligible interns will have graduated within the last five years from a STEM program resulting in a minimum of an advanced college diploma.
