Nicolas grew up in Ansnorveldt, ON (also known as the Holland Marsh) and lived there until he began university in 2008. He is a graduate of York University for Professional Writing and Creative Writing, where he learned from and worked with industry professionals and award-winning authors.
After graduating magna cum laude, he went to McMaster for his MA, studying Canadian political poetry, a field very few people are engaged in.
In his spare time, Nicolas is most heavily engaged with Scouts Canada, which he has been a member of for 19 years. He is currently the Deputy Council Youth Commissioner for Battlefields Council (Hamilton-Brantford-Niagara) and the Deputy Council Commissioner – Growth and Retention for Shining Waters Council (Thornhill-French River-Kincardine). Through Scouting, he has been engaged as a Youth Spokesperson, a National Appointment Chair, a Leadership Trainer, and as Camp Chief with countless camps and environmental projects. He is also an avid outdoorsman who loves camping and hiking, no matter what time of year it is.
Nicolas is also a poet and he is currently compiling poems that he has written over the past few years to submit some for possible publication. Likewise, he is currently writing a novel. Nicolas also makes cloaks and costumes for him and for friends, and has also been known to take on other odd creative projects such as making custom wax seals and leatherwork.
Here at NB, Nicolas is a Client Manager and Technical Writer, working with both French and English clients, as well as helping with marketing. His favourite part of the job is learning about all of the different fields clients are engaged in and using his skills to communicate their complex, technical documentation in a simple, straight-forward way.
