Message from the CEO |
Dear [firstname,fallback=Colleagues]:
Our past and present clients know us for our expertise in SR&ED. As Northbridge grows in leaps and bounds, we will continue to be your partner in SR&ED claims. As advocates of continuous business development and progressive thinking, we now provide exciting new services in addition to SR&ED consulting.
I am pleased to announce that we have launched a line of secondary offerings for you, the client. Northbridge Consultants now also provides assistance with ISO 9000 Certification, Kaizen/LEAN Manufacturing, and 5S Systems methodologies.
Northbridge has also become a certified CME SMART Program Qualified Service Provider, and can assist your company in securing government funding to support the aforementioned implementations.
These strategies can greatly assist you to increase productivity, streamline your efficiency, give you that competitive edge and increase your profitability. For further information visit our website or feel free to contact us. We can arrange for a Northbridge Specialist to visit your establishment for an assessment.
Speaking of new developments, Northbridge Consultants will now be making SR&ED Seminars a regular part of reaching out and educating businesses about the highly beneficial (yet widely under-utilized) federal funding program that is the SR&ED Tax Incentive Program. See inside this issue for more information about our next event, being held in May.
In these times of economic strife and decline, it is more crucial than ever before for businesses to take advantage of every possible strategy to maintain steady revenue. Recovering lost expenditures and obtaining funding for business enhancements are worth investigating.
Myself and everyone at Northbridge Consultants wish you all the best both professionally and personally.

Ask the Experts |
 Dear Northbridge Consultants,
I heard about the SR&ED program, and am interested in filing, but everyone I’ve spoken to says that documentation is incredibly important. Our R&D happens gradually over time, and we don’t keep in depth documentation about what we are doing. Does this mean that we can’t file?
Sincerely,
Jack Clarke
Dear Mr. Clarke,
Of course this doesn’t mean that you can’t file! What it does mean is that you may have to search a little for some existing documentation that you most likely do have on file relating to your R&D activities – anything from e-mails that have been sent, meeting minutes, payroll records, contractor invoices and technical drawings are all parts of documentation that you may not have realized can support your SR&ED claim.
From this point forward, however, we would definitely recommend that you start keeping track of SR&ED activities with documentation. For example, photograph defects and successes with products, make notes of telephone conversations, make copies of and file blueprints and drawings, and keep track of any experimentation as well as project descriptions.
