AgriInnovation Program – Research and Development Stream

AgriInnovation is a five-year, $468 million program under the Growing Forward 2 initiative to accelerate the pace of innovation by supporting research and development activities and facilitating the demonstration, commercialization and/or adoption of innovative products, technologies, processes, practices and services.

Purpose: Support pre-commercialization research, development and knowledge transfer leading to innovative agriculture, agri-food and agri-based practices, processes and products

Type: Grant

Reach: Federal

Amount: Up to $5,000,000 per year (Agri-science project); $20,000,000 (Agri-science cluster)

Coverage: 50% of eligible project costs

Eligible Costs: Administration; salaries/benefits; contracted services; capital assets; travel; other direct project costs

Criteria: National in scope; industry led; addresses components of the sector’s applied science plan under a single application

Amount: Up to $10,000,000 per year

Coverage: 50% of eligible project costs

Eligible Costs: Salaries/Benefits; contracted services; capital assets; other direct project costs

Criteria: Must demonstrate the innovative aspect of the proposed product, process, technology or service
